 Road to Nowhere - Order

1. Road to Nowhere Listen to a sample (MP3 - 387 KB) - Words and Music by Laura Hayes

I wrote this song at a time when my family and I were taking a big turn in our lives. We made a decision that many people thought was a mistake, and I didn't think I would ever find a way to help them understand why we were doing it. So I wrote this song, and it brought me a lot of peace. I think it's a song for anyone who's ever taken a different path. Lyrics

2.  The Gift - Words and Music by Laura Hayes

My favorite songs from other artists are those that tell a story. That is what I set out to do with "The Gift"...and much of it is true to my own life. My oldest son will soon be riding on a saddle that my parents gave to me when I was young. Lyrics

3.  Waiting for my Heart to Break - Words and Music by Laura Hayes

This started out being a slow, sad, heartbreak song. It still is a bit of a lonesome ballad, but the more I played it...the more I felt it changing into an upbeat, "getting on with your life" kind of tune. It's one of my favorites to sing. Lyrics

4.  My Love, My Friend - Words and Music by Laura Hayes

My husband has always told me that I am his best friend and for a long time I never appreciated what a wonderful thing that is. This song came about when it finally dawned on me that not everyone gets to be in love with their best friend. Lyrics

5.  You Put The Music Back in Me - Words and Music by Laura Hayes

This song is one that I think speaks to everyone. It's about whatever, or whomever inspires you to do the things you love. For me, it is a love song...but it's actually about my guitar. I wrote it one night when I sat down to play after neglecting my music for too long. Lyrics

6.  Pontiac Listen to a sample (MP3 - 387 KB) - Words and Music by Laura Hayes

Everyone has a story about their first car...good or bad...and Pontiac is mine. There really is a blue, Pontiac 79...and I have driven it since my sixteenth birthday. It is a great car with buckets of character, and everyone who knows me and my car gets a laugh out of this song. Lyrics

7.  Wish For You Listen to a sample (MP3 - 383 KB) - Words and Music by Laura Hayes

My kids are a big inspiration to me, and this was the first song that my oldest son inspired. It came to me during a middle of the night feeding when he was very young, and it's one that touches me whenever I sing it. Lyrics

8.  Everything Old is New Again Listen to a sample (MP3 - 233 KB) - Words and Music by Laura Hayes

This song came about when my husband and I started looking for a farm to buy. I realized that the big trend for "city folk" was to move to the country. Living in a log house in the middle of nowhere was the flavor of the month. It showed me that everything comes full circle. Lyrics

9.  Gambled on Love - Words and Music by Laura Hayes

Everyone can think of a relationship they never thought would work out. This is a fun little tribute to those who made them happen, even though it may have been a gamble. Lyrics

10.  Country Girl -Words and Music by Laura Hayes

This is a song I love to sing loud, and proud! It is about me, where I came from, and where I want to return to. But, I think anyone who ever wishes they could escape the hustle and bustle of their lives can identify. Lyrics

11.  Prairie Wind - Words and Music by Laura Hayes

This is the first song I ever wrote. They say you should write about what you know, and this is it. Prairie Wind is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of the farm families I have known...some that have made it, and some that have moved on. Lyrics
