Country Girl - Words and Music by Laura Hayes

This life has changed me. I’m not the same girl I used to be. It’s not something drastic, but its something I can see. One thing deep inside me hasn’t changed and it never will. It comes from sometime long ago and it is with me still.

It’s with me when I see the sunset fall behind the hills, when I hear the summer breeze or feel the winter chill. When I see the focus of my life begin to blur, I close my eyes and dream of someplace hidden from the world.

Chorus ~ I’m a country girl, I was raised with a small town heart. I’m a country girl, you can’t tear me apart from the rolling pastures, tall green grasses and endless sky of stars. I’m a country girl, and I have been from the start. ~

I’ve been all around this world from the north end to the south. It has helped me realize what this life’s all about. But no matter how far away I go, how far away I roam, I know there will always be just one place I’ll call home.

Chorus

I know I won’t always be here. This life will take me far in miles and years. But even in the city, or fifty years from now, there’s one thing in this life that will always make me proud.

Rolling pastures, tall green grasses and endless sky of stars…I’m a country girl and I have been from the start. I’m a country girl and I have been from the start.
