Wish For You - Words and Music by Laura Hayes

Asleep in my arms you’re so innocent, and it’s clear you were heaven sent. You’ll never know the joy that you bring. I want to protect you from everything.

When I look in your eyes, I long to know what will be when you’re old and grown. Will you live a life like the one that we lead? What kind of world will it be?

Will it be a world of credit cards, fancy homes and brand new cars, people acting richer than they are? Will it be a world of blackened seas, Mother Nature on her knees, dirty air and vanishing trees?

Down through the ages one thing remains, the wish from a parent to child is the same.

We want you to have what we never did, and a world that’s better than this.

Will it be a world of breaking news, babies dying without food, where some kids don’t make it home from school? Will it be a world of clashing wills, people who would die to kill, where old wars are being fought still?

I never had a silver spoon and I want more for you. It’s not about money but a life that is true.

I wish for you a simple life, family and a loving wife, a safe, warm place to call home.

May you live life at your own pace, steer clear of the steady race and never find yourself all

alone…asleep in my arms.
